Philosophy

"There are many fads and trends in plastic surgery, and patients are often confused or misled by advertising and media campaigns.

I will give you an honest appraisal of what can be achieved, and we will discuss the advantages and disadvantages of the techniques available.

The decision to have plastic surgery should be made knowing that the treatment is right for you.

My practice is not a production line. I pride myself on taking the time to listen to your goals and providing you with the highest level of plastic surgical expertise."

Background

Mr Bartlett joined the New Zealand Institute of Plastic and Cosmetic Surgery (NZIPCS) in 2002, identifying a common goal with Mr Gilbert and Mr Januszkiewicz to provide the highest standards of skill and expertise in plastic and cosmetic surgery.

A graduate of the Auckland School of Medicine, Mr Bartlett trained in plastic and reconstructive surgery in the mid-1990s at Middlemore Hospital, Auckland, Burwood Hospital in Christchurch, and at NZIPCS. He passed the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons Examination in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery in 1997.

In 1998-99 he sought higher training and experience at the Royal Children's Hospital in Melbourne, Australia, where he pursued interests in paediatric plastic surgery, craniofacial surgery (surgery of the face and its related structures), and hand surgery.

During this period, Glenn also trained with some of Melbourne's top cosmetic surgeons.

Surgical interests

Mr Bartlett's areas of expertise centre around his craniofacial experience. His appreciation of the intricacies of facial form and aesthetics is built on his studies in this field. He has particular interests in rhinoplasty (both primary and revisional), otoplasty (correction of prominent ears), facial rejuvenation surgery, and hard and soft tissue augmentation of the face.

As well as his cosmetic interests, Glenn maintains a busy reconstructive practice, with emphasis on:

  • Skin cancer and melanoma surgery
  • Reconstruction of facial trauma
  • A range of pediatric conditions, including:
    • craniofacial anomalies
    • hemangiomas and related vascular disorders
    • cleft lip and palate surgery
    • ear anomalies
    • surgery for Erb's Palsy
  • Hand surgery

Along with his private practice at NZIPCS, Mr Bartlett is a Consultant Plastic Surgeon to Middlemore and Kidz First hospitals, where he specializes in paediatric conditions (as described above).

He also is a regular visiting specialist to Starship Children's Hospital, with a focus on craniofacial surgery, ear reconstruction, and the management of hemangiomas and related disorders.

Academic affiliations/training

Mr Bartlett is a member of:

  • The Royal Australasian College of Surgeons.
  • The New Zealand Foundation for Cosmetic Plastic Surgery.
  • The New Zealand Association of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons.
  • The Australasian Society of Aesthetic Surgeons.
  • The Australasian Society of Cranio Maxillofacial Surgeons.

He is actively involved in the training of registrars and general practitioners, and has run numerous workshops in microsurgery.

Glenn has written and presented academic papers on a range of topics, including facial augmentation and ultrasonic-assisted liposuction. He also has participated in aid programmes, providing plastic surgical expertise to Pacific Island nations.

Mr Bartlett is a regular visitor to local and international meetings, keeping him at the forefront of developments in both plastic and cosmetic surgery.
