Dr Trevor Gray

Dr Trevor Gray

MBChB (UCT), FRANZCO

Dr Trevor Gray's USA & UK subspecialty Corneal Surgery training, his ongoing research in laser vision correction, and more than a decade of laser vision correction treatments, make him one of the highest trained and most experienced refractive surgeons in New Zealand. Dr Trevor Gray regularly performs 12-20 laser vision corrections a week, and has been selected by colleagues for their own refractive surgery.

Special Refractive Surgery Interests

  • Wavefront-guided Custom LASIK laser vision correction & Iris Recognition
  • Complex refractive surgery cases
  • Implantable Contact Lenses (ICLs)

Word-of-mouth recommendations and direct referrals from eyecare professionals are the foundation of Dr Trevor Gray's practice.  Patients and referrers trust Trevor's solid reputation for leading edge microsurgery, his passion for excellence and ability to communicate well. This training and experience results in many complex refractive surgery cases being referred to Trevor for his assessment and treatment.

Dr Gray does NOT offer only one operation. While most patients are suitable for Custom LASIK laser vision correction, some would be safer to have an alternative procedure. Trevor has the training, experience and unbiased perspective to advise which procedure is the best suited for every patient so that they can achieve the best quality of vision with the least possible risk.

Implantable Contact Lenses (ICLs) is an example of a procedure that offers better quality of vision and lower risk than Custom LASIK for patients who have thinner than normal corneas and high degree of near-sightedness. Trevor regularly performs 2-3 ICL operations per week for such patients. Click here for more information on ICLs.

Dr Gray is Clinical Senior Lecturer in Ophthalmology (University of Auckland) where he lectures on refractive surgery and other aspects of modern eye surgery. He has been a Visiting Consultant Ophthalmologist at Auckland City Hospital Eye Department since 1997 where he trains junior Ophthalmologists and other eyecare professionals every week.

Dr Gray's refractive surgery Team includes two of the most experienced professional Technicians in their fields. Frances has been specialising in eyecare and laser vision correction since the introduction of laser into NZ in 1992. Annie started specialising in eyecare in 1980, worked with laser vision correction since 1992 and now specialises in Implantable Contact Lenses and the use of multifocal intraocular lenses in modern refractive-cataract surgery. Their friendly caring nature, attention to detail and unequalled experience immediately puts patients at ease.
