Dr Antony Morris

MBChB, FRCS, FRANZCO

The highly qualified skills of Dr Antony Morris and his ongoing research in the development of refractive surgery in Auckland and overseas has lead to a full time committment to laser vision correction surgery, unique in Auckland.

Dr Antony Morris trained at Moorfields Eye Hospital in London for 5 years before returning to Auckland to commence private practice specialising in corneal and cataract surgery as well as contact lens management.

In 1986 Dr Antony Morris started performing radial keratotomy before realising the advantages precision laser surgery could achieve bringing laser vision correction to New Zealand in 1992 together with his colleagues at the Eye Institute.

The majority of his patients have been referred by other leading eyecare professionals across the country as well as the many satisfied patients who have been pleased by his high standards of care and communication. A significant number of patients come from overseas.

He has had refractive surgery himself and like many of his patients has found this to be a lifechanging experience. He has also performed laser Vision Corrections on his technician Rose and his secretary Claire.

The advantages of Custom Lasik have now been proven over 2 years and he considers it is now the gold standard for laser vision correction. To offer anything less for a patient is not in keeping with high standards and could mean they do not achieve their best possible vision. Iris recognition has further enhanced both the safety and precision of surgery. An initial assessment will take over 1 hour and you are invited to bring a support person with you to help with the decision making process. You will meet as well his technicians Rose who has worked as an expert in laser vision correction for over 10 years and our recent appointment Kiomi. Only those patients whom he considers will acheive safe corrections in line with their expectations will be encouraged to proceed with Lasik. By taking such great care he has a very low level of enhancements.

Experience

  • For many reasons he does not provide the numbers of procedures he has done as he regards every patient as a special individual. Be assured he has over 12 years experience and has done many thousands of laser procedures. This experience enables him to understand every possible situation leading to thorough assessment of your visual requirements.
  • Laser vision correction on many doctors and prominent sports people.
  • He has also operated on his sister and daughter.
