• Fellowships from 'the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons' and 'the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists (RANZCO 1983)' ·
• Memberships of 'the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery'; 'the Australasian Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery'; 'the American Academy of Ophthalmology'; and the New Zealand Branch of RANZCO. ·
• A foundation member of Capital Vision Trust – which has a vision of founding an eye research institute in Wellington ·
• Qualifying with a Bachelor of Medicine (MB) and Bachelor of Surgery (CH.B) at Otago University in 1976.
