Bernie graduated from the University of Witwatersrand, Johannesburg with an MB BCh degree and then undertook specialist training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, and is a Fellow of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, the Royal Australian College and a Foundation Fellow of the Royal New Zealand College.

Bernie and his family immigrated to New Zealand in 1976, He has worked in medical positions in several countries including South Africa, Israel, Hong Kong, Australia, United Kingdom and New Zealand.

Bernie holds an MBA and MPhil in Information Systems from Massey University. He has a BA in Philosophy and Logic from the University of South Africa and has also completed the Diploma in Professional Ethics at Aucklnad University.

He is a founding member of the Australian Gynaecological Endoscopy Society and an Executive member of the Australian Menopause Society.

He is also a member of the American Urogynaecology Society.

He has presented papers at many national and international conferences and has published articles in several leading medical journals.

He has published a book "Incontinence is NO Laughing Matter". This is easy reading and very informative on the subject.

His special interests in Gynaecology include:

He has practiced on the North Shore for over 20 years.
